Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, released December 20th 1940 Captain American Comics #1 contains multiple short stories.
The first appearance and origin story of one of the greatest Marvel superheroes! Captain America Comics #1 tells the story of Steve Rogers and his transformation into super soldier and taking on the mantle of Captain America.
It has multiple important first appearances in the Marvel universe including Bucky Barnes, a Red Skull, Doctor Erskine and the super soldier serum program.

Avengers #4 (1963) – Captain’s America first Silver Age Appearance
This is the first appearance of Captain America on a Marvel comic book cover!
Previously any cover Cap had appeared on was by Atlas or Timely. This is also his first appearance in the Silver Age of comics. Silver Age covers from 1956 to the early 1970’s.
This book also has Captain America returning to join The Avengers. As well the book contains a flashback of Bucky’s death and a cameo appearance of Baron Zemo! Future leader of the Thunderbolts and long time Captain America nemesis.
Avengers #4 Comic Book Value
There is a lot of sales data for lower estimated condition copies 5.0 and below. A copy of 5.0 can be found and purchased for the most part under 2,000 dollars. An estimated book of 5.0 can still be quite presentable for display.
There is quite a bit more sales data of graded copies ranging from .5 to 9.8. Graded copies tend to be more expensive because of the cost of grading them compared to their estimated counterparts. However most collectors prefer to have books like this protected from further degradation.
Most copies 6.0 and above are more than 2,000 dollars and high grades can be had for high 4 digits low 5 digits. A 9.8 has been sold for more than 100,000 dollars in the last few years which is quite a jump over 9.6s which were all over the place from 40,000 dollars to 9,000 dollars.
Tales of Suspense #59 (1964) – Cap’s Solo Silver Age Debut
The first solo appearance of Captain America in the Silver Age! This book contains two different stories. One with Tony Stark fighting the Black Knight and realizing he must live in the Iron Man suit in order to stay alive after his heart had been damaged in Tales of Suspense #39.
The second chapter in this book tells the story of Bull Brogin and his gang breaking into the Avengers mansion. Captain America finds himself fighting the gang alone and puts on a display of expert hand to hand combat. This issue also includes the first appearance of Jarvis who is employed as the Avengers butler.

This comic is quite affordable in both ungraded and graded copies. It’s a smaller key in the Captain America ethos. A high ungraded copy can be less than 300 dollars while a high graded copy of 9.0 can be purchased for 2,000 or less.
Captain America #100 (1968) – First Solo Title in the Silver Age
Tales of Suspense gets a title change. In April 1968, Marvel changed the name from Tales of Suspense to Captain America but continued the issue number. So Captain America #100 is released and continues the story from Tales Supsense #99.

Captain America #100 value is still quite affordable in mid grade condition. A lot of recorded sales in Good, Fine, Very Fine. Average sale for Very Fine is around 400 dollars while Fine and Very Good can be purchased for 200 or less on average.
Captain America #100 value in a graded condition doesnt seem to contribute much to the sale price until you get to higher grades. 5.0, 6.0 and 7s are still quite affordable around 200 and 400 dollars. It is not till 9.0s where the value climbs over 1,000 dollars.
Captain America #117 (1969) – First Appearance of The Falcon
Steve Rogers gets a new partner in Sam Wilson aka The Falcon! This is also considered the first appearance of an African American person as a superhero in mainstream comics.
This also includes the first appearance of Red Wing, an actual falcon, Sam Wilson’s sidekick.
Captain America #117 Comic Book Value
Higher estimated conditions of this book average around 500 dollars more or less. Deals can be found if you are willing to wait. The value of lower estimated conditions are averaging 200 dollars or less.
This book seems to be quite higher in value when professionally graded. 9.0 graded books are closer to 1,000. 9.8 graded books are wild in their range from 24,000 dollars to as high as almost 80,000 dollars.

Captain America #6 (2005) – First Appearance of The Winter Soldier
The Winter Soldier makes his first appearance in this issue. Written by Ed Brubaker. The Winter Soldier makes a full appearance in this issue of Captain America. Unbeknownst to Steve Rogers it is his former best friend and sidekick Bucky Barnes.
Near the end of World War 2 when Bucky and Steve went missing, Bucky was found nearly dead and missing an arm by the Russians who gave him a bionic arm and trained him to be a better assassin.

Captain America #6 Comic Book Value
This book has gone down in value since its initial peak in 2021. While the Winter Soldier continues to be a popular and key figure in the MCU. His first appearance value has started to decline. Highly estimated grades of a raw book seemed to peak around 2021 and has slowly declined with latest sales cratering to under 100 dollars from a high of an average of 800.
Graded copies while abundant in sales data have also declined in value from its average high of 900 in 2021.
Captain America #323 (1986) – First appearance of Super Patriot John Walker
This anniversary issue of Marvel had a special border celebrating 25 years since Fantastic Four #1 has been published. This special issue also contains the first appearance of John Walker aka Super Patriot. After Steve Rogers’ faith in the American dream had been shaken, he had been forced to take a life.
While this issue has the first appearance of John Walker it also includes the first appearance of The Buckies. While John Walker’s first moniker is Super Patriot he later goes on to take on the mantle of U.S. Agent.
Captain America #323 Comic Book Value
This book’s value has also gone down since 2021 much like Captain America #6.
The book’s peak in high graded condition was averaging 200 to 250 dollars and has since dropped to sub 150.
Ungraded raw books are quite a bit lower than the graded counterparts. Anywhere from 10 dollars to 60 or 70 for estimated high grades.
Captain America Comics #3 (1987) – Cap’s Third Appearance and Stan Lee’s first written work!
This is a historic issue in Marvel and comic book history. It is the first written work of Stan Lee. The most celebrated writer in comic book history. This book is the 3rd appearance of Cap and Bucky and the first cover appearance of Red Skull.

This comic book value will only go up since Stan Lee passed away in 2018. While ungraded sales data is rare and might not be accurate. Graded copies have more sales data.
Even the lowest record graded sale of 1.8 sold for more than 18,000 dollars. While there is slightly more sales data of graded books it does not come up for sale frequently. The highest graded sale of 8.0 sold for 90,000 dollars in 2022. If you can find this book even without a cover it could be worth a couple thousand dollars.
Captain America #25 (2007) – Death of Captain America
Telling the final events of the Civil War story. Cap is on trial for his crimes and is shot on the steps of the court house. Cap is shot through the neck and collapses. More shots are heard in the crowd this time at close range and Captain America one the greatest superheroes to ever live. Dies on his way to the hospital.
This death was a shock to many in the comic book community. Though it ultimately proved the adage deaths in comics are never permanent it lasted two years. This was one of the highest selling comics in the last 25 years.

The comic book value of this book is relatively low for a number of reasons. At the time of release it was a bigger key issue but since Captain America was revived 2 years later it means far less in the Marvel Universe.
